Carl Breytenbach graduated in 1993 at the University of Port Elizabeth with a degree in Architecture. After moving to Cape Town in 1994, the firm Carl Breytenbach Architects was born.

Starting small with a limited client base under difficult circumstances (high interest rates), concentrating mostly on additions and alterations to existing buildings and a couple of new houses, the practice gradually grew to become a well known small to medium sized firm, concentrating on large residential buildings (single houses) and later on medium to large commercial, industrial and some institutional projects.

After 20 years in the Western Cape, we have excellent knowledge of council procedures, having dealt with all of the district municipalities in Cape Town and surroundings. We concentrate on aesthetically appropriate designs, taking the clients needs and budget into consideration. Our clients know they will get a building that will meet their budget, looks the part and will be a home to live in, sell or let easily depending on their needs. The proof is our recurring clients (see testimonials), some of whom has been our clients for the last 15 years.

Our mission is to provide our clients with the best solution to each and every project. We believe a building is everyone’s biggest investment and therefore it should be treated as such. Firstly environmental conditions (sun, wind, rain and terrain) should be taken into consideration, followed by the clients needs, aesthetics and budget. Our style is contemporary and through continuing professional development we stay informed of the latest technology and trends.

Currently we are busy with a wide variety of projects. Some local and some in the wider Western Cape region (Swellendam) and also in the Eastern Cape (Cradock and Coega) and Gauteng.
